This is where I put MP3's of music I record on my own, or with my son and our two-man band, The MegaChips. Check out the latest MegaChips track, "My Favorite Friend Version 300," recorded on GarageBand in our basement on Sunday, February 20, 2011.
Below are three songs by The MegaChips, featuring Owen on drums and vocals me on guitar and vocals.
The first song, "My Favorite Friend, Version 27," turned out pretty psychedelic, thanks to the Helium vocal and Big Wheel guitar settings on GarageBand.
The second song, "My Favorite Friend, Version 2," is the closest thing to a "real" song that Owen let me do. Usually he likes to add crazy vocals using the Mouse voice setting, which is funny, but I can only tolerate wacky vocals for so long.
Lastly, "WE LOVE WEATHER!" is my attempt to play along with Owen's beat, as opposed to simply playing my riff and letting him just bash all around me.
MY SECOND ORIGINAL MP3...WELL, THE SAME SONG DONE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENTLY
By cutting a few words out here and there, and jettisoning the intro, I've come up with what I believe is a better version of "Area 51 Is for Lovers." I also recorded the guitar and vocal simultaneously, using the New Nashville guitar setting on GarageBand, which works better than the separate vocal track I originally had. I also ditched the metronome, which I never intended to put into the first track; it was there because I hadn't selected for it not to be there.
The ending gets a bit mucked up, as I was trying, on the spot, to come up with a way to end other than to just stop singing and playing. This is the final version of this I will post. Other songs to come in the future....
